Who hasn't heard of Rembrandt?! Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn was born in Leiden on 15 July 1606. He is known worldwide as one of the most important European painters and the most important Dutch master of the 17th century. Rembrandt painted, etched, and drew and made thousands of works. His style is baroque. Very lush and detailed. His excellent control of light and the contrast made his works unique and highly valued. In all his works you find a sharp contrast of light and dark and dramatics. Rembrandt died on October 4, 1669, in Amsterdam, leaving behind a treasure trove of masterworks.
