Van Gogh's sunflower series includes three paintings with fifteen sunflowers in a vase and two with twelve sunflowers in a vase. Vincent van Gogh painted these works in 1888 and 1889, when he lived in Arles in the south of France. They have displayed at Paul Gauguin's (a close friend of Van Gogh) bedroom. Today they can be found in five different museums over the world. The design of this Van Gogh bicycle bell is based on the vase with fifteen sunflowers, which can be viewed at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.

About Vincent van Gogh

Van Gogh was born in the Netherlands and later lived his life in Paris and others parts of France. He didn't live a happy life and nobody liked his paintings. He only sold one painting throughout his entire life. He was unable to make a living for himself and always had to knock on his parents or brother's door for money. He became an alcoholic and was brought to a psychiatric hospital. Here he decided to fully concentrate on painting. Vincent Van Gogh passed away on July 29, 1890 and left behind more than 850 paintings.
