Candle Dutch House Stepped gable in green

Typically Dutch: cozy candles in the shape of Dutch houses with a stepped gable or a bell gable. Handmade in the workshop of Snel candle makers. A candle with its own story, often with a beautiful or fun memory of special places in the Netherlands. Each Dutch house is 10 cm high and packed in a sustainable Kraft gift box. Available in the colors white-ecru, red, green and sea green.

The stepped gable house

Most stepped gable houses in the Netherlands were built in the 16th and 17th centuries. First made of wood, later made of stone. Thanks to the steep roofs, rainwater flows easily through the roof tiles. This graceful style can also be found in other rainy countries, such as Belgium, France or England. In the Netherlands, the stepped gable houses are often built according to the Renaissance style, encouraged by the Amsterdam architect Hendrick de Keyser. Thanks to him, the characteristic stepped gables can be found on buildings throughout the Netherlands.

Snel candle makers

Mandy and Manon Snel from Utrecht focus on handmade candles in the shape of special towers and objects. That started with the Dom tower candle, designed and produced by their uncle Ruud Snel in Ruud's Waskit. After his death, Mandy and Manon renamed the Waskit to Snel Candle Makers and expanded the range with more towers and objects.
