Marc de Groot studied both at the Design Academy in Eindhoven and at the Royal College of Art in London. Towards the end of his studies, he started his own design label: Marc de Groot Design, nowadays named: by Marc de Groot. He has designed a method that offers many creative possibilities. It is like metal origami: when assembled the laser-cut components form a complex constellation that surprises and astonishes. With the work he creates an atmosphere where the brightness of his mind becomes visible. His lamps form a natural calm in space combined with playful functionality.

In his Amsterdam based studio Marc focuses on the creation of light. Based on his design philosophy:
Simplicity, craftsmanship and eye for detail without losing the functional aspects. With results: authentic, functional products with a bright and warm atmosphere combined with a surprising form. Like Marc himself says: “When things make sense, beauty appears. I strive to have my own signature based on visual mathematics”
